also, funny story. Almost blew this up today. Started it just to hear it, and turned it off when the idle didn't stabiliZe.... And.... It kept rumbling and rumbling and trying to run-on. Stabbing the emergency stop does nothing. Panicking more now. Cut all power to the bus now. Complete disconnect. Throw it in gear to drag it down. After about half a minute it gives up trying to run on, the revs drop and a VERY relieved clay emerged from the driver's seat.
Diesel run on. Not cool. Imagine explaining to the client that you nuked a historical 55 year old engine by letting it run away?
But at least I got some cool photos after.

that thing might as well get an engine overhaul. and yeah, maybe a proper catch can as well.
I miss the time when my local transit ran Fishbowls. They had such a distinctive sound. they also had leather seats, typical in school buses.

They still had these in Toronto up until '11. Fun little things; they had more vertical space than the current non-bendy ones we have. Wish they'd run these on occasion.

Had this happen to an engine at work not too long ago. Engine ran completely away, well into the red. Cut power, fuel... Just kept running. Eventually had to choke the air supply because it was running off oil spray being pulled through the pcv system. Had to throw that engine in the scrap pile.
